Methods Of Construction

We are wooden boat specialists and most of our new hulls are built using a structural composite construction method, utilising a strip-planking core, reinforced with either glass, carbon and arimid fabrics as well as structural timber veneers.
We also now produce foam carbon hulls parts.
We believe that by having the traditional skills and combining them with modern materials and methods, we can breathe new life into wood composite construction.

Strip planking, in either timber or foam, speeds up build time, makes for excellent savings in labour and materials and allows a more flexible approach to the interior layout.

We are also equipped for cold moulding and foam or balsa mould based hull construction, as well as traditional clinker, or carvel timber construction

Epoxy resins and laminates, carbon, aramid and e-glass are supplied by SP systems.
The result, a higher weight/strength ratio then solid glass laminates.

Composite construction is the future of boat building, and we are learning continually from the research and development of our resin and core suppliers, who work to refine their materials. This understanding, in addition to our team's experience and skill in engineering and boat construction, enables us to produce yachts and launches that are lightweight, high-speed and strong, with a durability which makes them a lasting investment.
